Invitation to the Parish Church Beautiful and Beyond Everyday Life
As part of this year's Pilgrimage of St. Joseph in Krásná (1. 5. 2026), which takes place throughout the historical area there, it is possible to visit, among other things, the rectory. Even before the demolition and construction work begins in full force as part of the Let's Journey to Our Cultural and Historical Treasures project, which is being implemented by the Municipality of Pěnčín in cooperation with the Municipality of Oybin, we can visit several events that, although they have different names, are closely related.
An international exhibition is being prepared in the rectory building, which will focus on the journey and migration of our ancestors in the border region between Bohemia, Germany and Poland. In addition to Krásná, there will be 14 other locations throughout the Nisa Euroregion. Some will only stop at local landmarks, while a large part of the exhibition will also be on display in the partner city of Oybina.
The rectory itself will be open throughout the day during other events held on the premises, giving visitors a unique opportunity to see it before the renovation, which will somewhat erase the spirit of the past and the old stories.
12:00 From the cellar to almost under the roof – a tour focusing on old building details and the history of the rectory with Mgr. Jan Sedlák, co-author of the building history survey and coordinator of the entire cross-border project.
13:00 Presentation and news in the project Let's travel to our cultural and historical treasures
Presentation of what is planned not only in Krásná, but also in other places affected by the project: reconstruction of the rectory in Krásná and its adaptation for exhibition purposes, Oybin castle and monastery, rehabilitation of disturbed slopes and ruins, archaeological survey, exhibition of finds and the Krásná–Oybin virtual trail, which connects over a dozen locations on both sides of the border and both cultural monuments. Inclusion of augmented reality (AR) in exhibitions in both places and in the trail.
One of the themes of the exhibition at the rectory, as well as at other places along the trail, is Wandering Legends. Dr. Eva Koudelková, a Czech writer, owner of the Bor Publishing House in Liberec and a university teacher, will introduce us to legends and their mysterious world.
14:00 Wandering legends between the Jizera, Lusatian and Zittau mountains – presentation of the upcoming exhibition and legends and their mutual connections
Legends are among the most popular forms of folk literature because they tell the story of the places we live in and know. They offer a glimpse into the ancient folk world, telling the story of the past of a nation or region with a specific selection of heroes and an original folk philosophy. The lecture is based on the fact that although we find many local peculiarities among legends, similarities surprisingly prevail, which are most noticeable in closely neighboring areas, where mutual influence and adoption occurred.
15:00 Journey from Bohemia to the end of the world (Cabo Fisterra)
Francis walked the Way of St. James from Liberec to Santiago de Compostela in Spain and from there even further, to Cape Finisterre (Fisterra in Galician), which is located in the northwestern part of Spain in Galicia, in the province of A Coruña. This rocky place on the Costa de la Muerte (Coast of Death) was considered in ancient times to be the end of the then known world (Latin finis terrae ), where the land meets the Atlantic.
František and his friends also traced and personally walked the trail from Krásná to Oybin.
